ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Jesse Hicks era is underway at Dougherty High.
On Friday the Trojan football team opened up spring practice with their new head coach.
Hicks comes to Dougherty after an eight year stint at Baldwin in Milledgeville. Hicks is committed to bringing Dougherty back to prominence and says the key to building a successful program starts on day one.
"We got to try to get the kids rolling and that's one thing that we're doing right now we're making relationships between the coaches, kids and just trying to get them going trying to make them understand how important football is and what it can do for their lives" said Hicks.
Dougherty will conclude spring practice next Saturday morning with a scrimmage at 10:00.
