ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Drugs agents seize 50 pounds of marijuana being delivered to Albany, and arrest three people.

The 50 pounds of pot is worth $224,000 on the street, seized Thursday night when Albany Dougherty Drug Agents, the GBI, and the D.E.A.

The 29-year-old, nearly 400 pound Jarrett Turner of Albany was arrested for trafficking in marijuana, along with two other men drug agents are not releasing their names.

They also seized $1,360 in cash, and Turner's car. The D.E.A. got a tip the 50 pounds of marijuana was being driven to Albany from Atlanta by the two men, for Turner.

Drug Agents were waiting when Turner met the Atlanta men at the intersection of Oakridge and Westtown Road.

"And they went mobile, and that's when we made the decision to go ahead and take both of those cars down. Instead of taking the chance of something happening. Getting in a car chase, or something even worse. Someone getting hurt," said A.D.D.U. Commander Major Bill Berry.

DEA drug agents are now investigating the two men who delivered the 50 pounds of pot to Albany, and trying to trace where the dope came from.

Turner is being held in the Dougherty County Jail.
