ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany State football team will play its' 2nd annual spring game Friday night giving Golden Ram fans a first glimpse of the 2010 season.

Most of ASU's defense returns from last year but the Golden Rams have some big shoes to fill on offense. Quarterback and SIAC MVP AJ Mckenna is gone and so is running back Demetrice Johnson

Head coach Mike White says the battle between four players at running back has been the highlight of the offense this spring. LiRonnie Davis and Kareem Hess return after missing last season with injury. Gary Neavins is back after sitting out because of academics and Appalachian State transfer Robert Weldon is joining the attack.

"Our running game is probably the bright spot for us right now. We had a pretty good battle at running backs" said White.

Two Rams are battling for the starting quarterback job. Redshirt freshman Rodney Castlin and  Wayne Campbell who saw limited action last season as the Ram's back up.

"Rodney is a young quarterback. He's got a lot of potential, still learning a lot still got a lot of growing. Wayne is a little bit more seasoned, still probably making too many mistakes for a guy whose 3rd or 4th year but right now both of them seem to be right tit for tat" said White.

You can see both quarterbacks in action on Friday when the spring game kicks off at 6:00 from the Ram's Den. Admission is $5.00
