THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) – Thomasville's Public Works department is busy making improvement to the city's parks, just in time for the warmer temperatures.

The department set aside more than $50,000 for the spring renovations.

The improvement projects are part of a master plan they began years ago.

Projects include a new gazebo at the Thomasville Rose Garden and installation of new plants, fencing, and additional benches at the popular Cherokee Lake.

Park visitors say they enjoy the improvements already made at the city's parks and look forward to new additions.

"Thomasville parks are fun," says frequent visitor Michelle Williams. "It's a good place to bring your kids to have fun. They put in this walkway so everyone can walk and go fishing and there's a little dock. It's a really delightful place to bring my grandson."

Cherokee Lake will also get new parking areas and possibly an additional restroom on the south end of the park.

The city is also implementing a multi-use trail that will eventually connect all the city parks with the historical district.
