ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Negotiations are still underway to sell a major piece of property in Lee County. The driving range and two homes at Grand Island Golf course were up for auction on March 13th.

While bids were taken on some of the property, negotiations are still underway and nothing has been finalized. Lee County Development Director Winston Oxford says it's prime real estate, and the auction generated a lot of interest.

Oxford said, "A number of anchor tenants who presently are not located in the Albany Metropolitan statistical area have looked at this site and have considered it over the last few years and presently there are several other tenants that would be nice anchor tenants who are considering this site."

The 23 acre driving range along Ledo Road, is one of the largest tracts available for development in that area.
