Albany -- Albany Churches and the Downtown Merchants' Association will host a community Sunrise Easter Service. The Sunrise service will start at 7 o'clock at the Veterans Park Amphitheater across from the Civic Center Easter Morning, April 20th.
The Downtown merchants want the service to be an opportunity for the Albany community to come together in faith. Dr. Ernest Davis, Pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church said "We also want to come together at this time to pray for our servicemen. To pray for our nation, and their families at this time of war."
First United Methodist Minister Robert Beckum said "One thing the Downtown Merchants Association was saying, they want to express they care more than just for the economic and for their business. They care about their community and that's why they wanted to be involved in this as well."
Besides the Christian service and Prayers for the troops, the Community Easter Sunrise Service will feature a number of bands and singers.
In case of rain, the service will be held at Bethel A.M.E. Church on Washington across from the Civic Center.
