Funeral for Georgia soldier held today

April 7, 2003

(Conyers-AP) --  The service for Specialist Jamaal Addison of Roswell will be at 11:00 AM at White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Conyers.

The 22-year-old Addison was one of two soldiers from Fort Bliss, Texas, killed in the ambush on March 23rd. Five others were captured as prisoners of war.

Addison's unit had not expected to encounter combat. Addison was a member of the same group that Jessica Lynch belonged to. Commandos rescued Lynch from a hospital.

They also unearthed nine bodies from a nearby burial site -- eight of which were identified as members of Lynch's unit -- the 507th Maintenance Company.
