ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The Lee County Planning Commission will again look at plans to rezone a portion of Forrester Parkway for a senior living rental community.
The plans include both senior and low income housing behind the Weslo Estates Mobile Home Park with about four acres of retail space in front of the development along Forrester Parkway. The property is currently zoned commercial. The issue was tabled at the last commission meeting to get some clarification on whether the property was zoned only for mobile homes. The planning department says the county has been focused on making sure the county has the right mix of development.
"The county in the past had tried to find a balance between residential development and commercial development right now that area there is a hot area for the commercial development," said Bob Alexander, Lee County Planning Director.
The planning commission is expected to vote on a recommendation Tuesday night, and send that information to the next commission meeting in April.
