LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Former Lee County prosecutor Craig Mathis was released from jail Sunday on a $5,000 bond. WALB's camera was rolling in the Lee County courtroom as he appeared before a judge at 2:00 Sunday afternoon.
This comes two days after sheriff's deputies arrested him for possession of Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled drug with intent to distribute. Mathis surrendered his right to practice law until the case is dismissed.
Mathis will also enter an in-house drug abuse program. The judge said he waived his fourth amendment right to search and seizure and his right to possess fire arms.
