ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A group of talented young artists in Dougherty and Lee County schools were recognized for their artistic creations at the Albany Museum of Art.

On Saturday, the Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County announced the awards for the 30th Annual Kiwanis Student Art Exhibit.

The contest is for middle and high school students from both public and private schools in Dougherty and Lee Counties.

"We try to promote the arts because they help develop critical skills that you don't necessarily get from other classes and it develops a sense of creativity," said Kristin Caso, Art Contest Co-Chair, Kiwanis Club.

The art will remain on display at the AMA until mid-April, after that the winners will be on display at the Albany Mall.
