Cairo - A drug agent is shot in the hip while chasing suspected burglars.
Around one Friday morning, Southwest Georgia Drug Task Force agents and Cairo Police officers spotted two men hiding in the bushes in Northeast Cairo.
One man ran west on 4th Avenue and the other ran south on 2nd Street. One was caught for a moment. Police Chief Keith Sandefur, says, "A struggle ensued. The officers weapon was discharged during the struggle hitting the officer in the right hip area."
The pair were wanted for a residential burglary. The identity of the wounded agent will not be released because of undercover operations.
