Thomas County - Millions of pounds of pecans are being thrown away.

Seminole Sanitation hauled mice infested pecans from the Camilla Services, Incorporation to the Thomas County Landfill. The pecans will be buried at the landfill.

In February, the Georgia Department of Agriculture temporarily closed the Camilla pecan storing facility on Boggs Ferry Road.

They found 1.5 million pounds of unshelled pecans with severe mouse infestation. The nuts were owned by a Texas based company.
