LAKE CHARLES, LA (WALB) - The 2010 Southern Indoor Football season kicks off this weekend and the league is down to five teams.
The Houston Lightning and the SIFL have decided that the franchise won't be participating because the team was unable to secure a lease with Houston's Reliant Stadium before the league's deadline of March 15th.
The Lightning were scheduled to play six road games and the SIFL is working to find replacement clubs to fill the schedule.
The Albany Panthers were scheduled to host Houston on May 8th but will instead host the Columbus Lions.
The Panthers were schedule to visit Houston on April 9th. Panthers General Manager Will Carter says the team will find a replacement game or take the week off.
Albany kicks off the season on April 3rd at 7:30 against Columbus at the Albany Civic Center.
