ALBANY, GA (WALB) –A Dougherty County school teacher and one of his students were both hauled off to jail for fighting.

32 year old Antonio Richardson is charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of an officer.

Police were removing a 14 year old girl from Richardson's class Wednesday afternoon when she reached around the officer and hit the teacher. Officers say the teacher hit her back.

Dougherty County School Police Chief Troy Conley said "At that point the teacher struck the student several times. Officer Crawford and other staff members of the school were able to separate the two."

The student was also charged with disorderly conduct and simple battery. Richardson was released Thursday on $3500 bond. He will face an administrators hearing before he is allowed to return to a classroom.
