VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta State Blazers are back in the DII regionals for a second straight year.
The Blazers open with Clark Atlanta in the quarterfinals Saturday at Arkansas Tech.
VSU wanting to stick around longer than they did in last year's regionals when they lost in the first round to another SIAC school Claflin.
The Blazers enter regionals in a shooting slump that has been a big reason why they have lost two of their last four games.
Coach Mike Helfer says his team knew they were in the regionals before the Gulf South Conference tournament and knew they would have time to get ready for regionals.
Mike Helfer said. "We knew we had this week to adjust and make preparations for this Saturday. Again I think we have got to learn from Saturday. Make some adjustments and changes and be ready to go this Saturday. That is very important. "
The Blazers play Clark Atlanta at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
The VSU women face Fort Valley State Friday in the DII women regionals also at Russellville, Arkansas.
