Darton ready for conference baseball opener

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Darton faces a tough opener in their first conference series of the state junior college season this weekend.

The Cavaliers are on the road against rival Middle Georgia in Cochran.

Warriors beat Darton in the first round of last year's state tournament and from there made it to the NJCAA World Series.

Darton coach Glenn Eames isn't happy with his team's 7-12 record but the Cavaliers do have wins against top teams like Northwest Florida, Chipola and Tallahassee Community College.

Eames says the one problem so far this season has been on the pitching mound.

Something he believes can led the Cavs to the state title if the arms come around.

Glenn Eames said. "That is going to be the key to this series. That is going to be the key to the entire conference schedule because I think it is real obvious to everybody we haven't been real consistent on the mound."

Darton and Middle Georgia play a single game at 6:00pm Friday in Cochran and a doubleheader at 3:00pm on Saturday.
