BERRIEN COUNTY, GA (WALB) –A jailer is charged for stealing a tractor in Berrien County two years ago.

When 40-year old Scott Fender admitted to the crime, he was fired.

He's charged with theft. The $17,000 tractor was reported missing by Chaparral Boats in 2008.

Fender previously worked there.

Nashville police even did an air search last month.

They found the tractor off Abera Mill Road in Nashville in a swamp.

"We had just enough that Donald Franklin the lead investigator in this case contacted the state patrol aviation division and they went up and flew the area," said Nashville Police Det. Michael Pitts.

Last week he was put behind bars and now he's out of jail.
