LEESBURG, GA (WALB) – At a time when every dollar counts for local governments the commission got a $75,000 dollar boost from Sheriff Rachals.

Rachals presented the check from his office's bond fund. He says an audit revealed the fund had extra money from the previous administration.

He's keeping $40,000 dollars in the fund to cover outstanding bonds for criminal suspects, but the rest is going into the county budget.

The sheriff has now turned over more than $100,000 dollars and says new accounting practices will prevent future problems.
