ALBANY, GA (WALB) –   A Dougherty County school teacher remains in jail, after SWAT units raided his East Albany apartment where police say he held his girlfriend hostage for hours.

The domestic dispute began around 11:00 Monday night in Cornerstone apartments on Moultrie road. Albany police say 39-year-old Michael Jackson locked his girlfriend, 55-year-old Jasmine Boyd inside their apartment and wouldn't let her leave.

Neighbors heard screams and called police. The SWAT team assisted and busted in the apartment around 2:00 this morning.

Police say Jackson didn't have any weapons and Boyd wasn't injured.

Jackson was arrested and charged with false imprisonment. Jackson is a Special Education Teacher at Westtown Elementary School in Albany.

The Deputy Superintendent of the Dougherty County School System is investigating the case and will decided if Jackson will be allowed to return to the classroom.

Bond was set at $9,500.
