Beefing up military pay

April 1, 2003

Albany - Mayor Tommy Coleman wants to make sure city employees, now on active duty, aren't taking a pay cut during their military service. Currently, 4 city workers have been deployed and forced to leave their city jobs.

Mayor Coleman said if their military pay is less than what they were making at their job, the city should pay the difference. "A city policy code allows for us to compensate the pay for military personnel," said Coleman. "This is the least we can do to help our troops support their families while overseas."
