ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A newborn baby was left locked in a car Sunday afternoon while the driver went shopping.

The three month old baby boy was left alone in a white car in front of Books-A-Million at the Albany Mall for at least 20 minutes.

A driver who parked next to the vehicle called for help.

Police had to break into the vehicle to get the baby out.

We were there as the driver, 21-year-old William Tennerson returned to the vehicle.

We still don't know why he left the child locked in the car; police say he was taken to APD headquarters for questioning.

Tennerson has been charged with reckless conduct and the case has been forwarded to Department of Family and Children Services. The baby is Okay.
