ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Downtown Albany is seeing one of it's busiest nights as Mardi Gras wraps up Saturday evening. Thousands of folks have made their way downtown for the festivities.

People dressed up in their Mardi Gras attire and enjoyed the music on main stage right at West Broad and Jackson.

There was definitely not a shortage of food for everyone -funnel cake hot dogs and all the healthy stuff. Families also brought their kids for a little fun a games. That end was closest to Washington street.

I spoke to some girls enjoying the music and one says it's the best turn out she's seen so far.

"I think it's doing pretty good especially with all these people out here," said Erin Adcock.  Downtown Albany is awesome but it's a little rundown so it's great to have an event like this to bring more people out."

A vendor near main stage has been selling drinks all day and he says business has been great.

"Right after we opened at noon, business was steady," said vendor Kevin Hogencamp. "Right now the lines are long. It's just a very profitable, wonderful time for all of Albany.

The next event will be held in Lee County. The bike race starts tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. If you're looking for something to do tomorrow, Sounds of Praise will be held at the Veterans Park Amphitheater from noon to 6:00 p.m.
