ALBANY, GA (WALB) - When Westover was losing to South Atlanta in last year's state championship game, they had to wonder what there chances would have been had the Hornets not had the best player in the nation in Derrick Favors.
Favors scored 38 points in last year's win for South Atlanta.
This season he is starting for Georgia Tech.
That is good news for Westover who is ready for a rematch with South Atlanta in the AAA south sectionals tomorrow night in Columbus.
The Patriots know the Hornets are still a very good basketball team without Favors.
However Westover has been on a mission this season to get back to Macon after coming up one game short last year.
Senior guard Shevern Keaton said. "Oh well yes him being the number one player we are just going to play. They have a good team still and we are still going to play hard."
Senior forward Onochie Ochie said. "We are going to play hard and hopefully we will get the victory. I am glad he is not playing. He is a great player."
Westover plays at 8:30pm Saturday at Columbus State against South Atlanta.
Dougherty boys play at 5:30pm against LaGrange.
