PLAINS,  GA (WALB) – A man is in Sumter county jail after he got into a fight with a police officer, and that officer shot him in the foot!

The GBI says 28-year-old Kene Davis was wanted by Plains police for a probation violation. Just before 10 Thursday night, Plains police officer Benji Conger spotted Davis riding his bike on Thomas Street, pulled him over and tried to arrest him.

Davis fought the officer to the ground and during that fight the officer fired a shot which hit Davis in the foot. Davis was taken to the hospital but he's in jail now charged with obstruction of police. The GBI is still investigating.
