The 8th ranked Blazers try to end that drought this weekend near Memphis.
After losing in last year's championship game, Valdosta State enters the tournament with a
24-3 record and tied with Alabama Huntsville for the east division title.
The Chargers get the top seed in the conference tournament by virtue of a coin flip.
Head coach Mike Helfer says winning this tournament is never easy but he believe his team has the talent to win three games in three days.
Helfer said. "Two things have to happen. First you have to have quality depth on your team. The second thing is I think you have to play well. You can't go through lulls where you don't play well because all the teams are bad and you end up losing."
Valdosta State and Arkansas-Monticello met in the Gulf south men's quarterfinals for a second year in a row.
Blazers won last year.
The rematch is 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Southaven, Mississippi.
