TIFTON,  GA (WALB) – Two stepbrothers are in the Tift county jail charged with attempting to rob a fast-food restaurant. Tifton police say 25-year-olds Joshua Westbrook and Billy Smith went through the Checkers drive-thru at 9:30 Wednesday night.

When they approached the window, police say Westbrook reached inside and tried taking money out of the register. The cashier quickly closed the window on him though, and the men drove away. Then, the Checkers manager jumped in his car and chased the pair down the street until the suspects pulled over and ran. The manager was on the phone with police the entire time.

Police scanned the area and arrested Smith shortly after. Westbrook was arrested Thursday morning around 6:15 at his stepbrother's house. The men are charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery.
