ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Georgia's unemployment rate hits another record high.  It reached 10.4 %in January, and the Labor Commissioner expects it to get worse.

Georgia's jobless rate is 2-points higher than the same time last year, with more than 151,000 jobs lost in the last year statewide.

Heavy equipment operator Jessie Espy knows how hard it is to find a job.

He's been looking for five months.  Espy said "I mean it's very discouraging. Because you are used to working and taking care of your family. It's hard. Everytime you go into a place. You go, you fill out the application, you fit the criteria, but there really ain't nothing out there."

Albany lost 2300 jobs in the last year.

Valdosta has one of the highest percentage of job losses at more than 4 percent.

Georgia's unemployment rate has exceeded the national rate for 28-straight months.
