THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) – A Turner County man is in jail after police say he kidnapped his wife and led police on a high speed chase with his young son in the car.

Police say 29-year-old Demetrius Walden pulled his wife into his S-U-V Saturday night in Thomasville.

She escaped when a state trooper stopped Walden for speeding in Colquitt County, but Walden took off with the boy.

He ditched the car and ran and was caught later in Ashburn.

He's in the Thomas County Jail charged with kidnapping, cruelty to children, false imprisonment, and making terroristic threats.
