CORDELE, GA (WALB) – A Cordele man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in a deadly shooting last year.

A Crisp County jury found 36-year-old Virgil Christopher not guilty of murdering 22-year-old Eli Jones outside the Sunset Homes Housing Complex. They also found him not guilty on charges of cocaine possession.

He was convicted of aggravated assault stemming from the shootout last February.

A co-defendant, 36-year-old Rongee Reese, is awaiting trial.
