ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darton soccer coach Ken Veilands faces a challenge in recruiting this area's top players.
Most are not interested in attending college so close to home.
Veilands though is able to sign Lee County's Rachel Hatch.
Hatch is a three time all region player for the Lady Trojans and was their leading scorer last year.
Hatch grew up attending coach Veilands' summer camps as a kid and admits she too was looking at colleges outside of Albany until realizing the two time national runner-up Darton program is the best place to improve her considerable soccer talents.
Rachel Hatch said. "I am just hoping I can stay here a year or two and then go farther than what I would be able to do if I just went ahead and left.
Hatch has already scored two goals in four games this season for the Lee County girls soccer team.
