Changes coming to city personnel policy

By Karen Cohilas - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The city of Albany is completely rewriting its personnel management policies. It's been about 30 years since the policy was considerably updated.

Some of the current policies simply don't make sense for the city. Currently, if an employee is arrested and charged with a crime, the city can only suspend that person with pay, and cannot suspend them without pay until an indictment takes place or the case is finalized.

The city commission will go through a draft policy section by section until an entire review is done, and then adopt a new policy.
