ROCHELLE, GA (WALB) – A 15-year-old Wilcox County Middle School student is accused of bringing a gun and hunting knives to school.

Rochelle Police Chief Keith McDuffie says the 8th grader showed off the knives and a .32 caliber pistol to classmates February 16th. But students didn't come forward until the 25th.

When questioned by police, the teen confessed.

He was taken to a youth detention center in Eastman where was held until he released to the custody of his parents. The juvenile remains under house arrest pending another tribunal hearing and is not allowed on school grounds.

He's charged with misdemeanor possession of a firearm by a person under 18 and a felony count of possessing a gun at school.

McDuffie says his department handles campus security issues and has a protocol it follows.
