ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A jury has been seated to hear arguments in the murder trial of a Terrell County woman accused of concealing the death or her newborn.
Investigators believe the woman burned the baby's body in the fireplace of her home. GBI agents spent Christmas Eve 2008 using cadaver dogs to sift through debris at the Trans-Waste dump site on Highway 82 in Terrell County.
The Terrell County Sheriff's office got a tip that then 21-year-old Samantha Jesse had been pregnant. When investigators questioned her about no longer being pregnant she couldn't account for the child. Bone fragments found in the fireplace led investigators to charge Jessie with murder.
