Hall family prays for four children in the military

March 30, 2003

Albany- First Sgt. Retired Dennis Hall and wife Ola are being put to the test as parents. While some parents have one child in the military, the Hall's have four. Staff Sgt. James Griffin and Staff Sgt. Tyrone Griffin are serving in Japan, and Sgt. Gary Hall and Private First Class, Marisa Hall are in the war with Iraq.

Dennis Hall says, "We miss them, but they are doing their job. It's a job we are proud of."

Dennis Hall was in the military for over twenty-years. He earned several awards, including this bronze star medal from Desert Storm, and his wife, Ola, says his legacy is what inspired their children.

She adds,"They saw their father leave for Desert Storm and I explained to them that he was doing his job. They are proud of him, and they followed in his footsteps."

These parents are not shedding tears, instead they cling to faith and experience. While their kids are far away, recent phone calls and E-mails bring feelings of hope closer to home.

"Hearing from our kids is a blessing. We need it to keep going," says Ola.

Dennis and Ola say being surrounded by their grandchildren, like two year old, Dre'Shun Hall, and pictures of old days gone by gives them reassurance their four prayers will be answered and their four heroes will come back home.

The Hall's youngest daughter is a student at Dougherty High School. She is thinking about entering the Air Force after graduation.
