ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Southwest Georgia Auburn Club's second annual Cleve Wester Scholarship hunt started Thursday night with the annual dinner this year at Stonebridge Country Club.
Auburn head football coach Gene Chizik, former Tigers head coach Pat Dye and Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs are among the many Tigers turning out for the dinner crowd that measured more than 200 people.
The Southwest Georgia Auburn club started the Cleve Wester scholarship last year.
The fully endowed scholarship will go to an Auburn student from the area.
An all conference tackle at Auburn in the late 50's, Cleve Wester died last August.
Coach Gene Chizik says Wester's legacy will continue here in southwest Georgia and at Auburn.
Gene Chizik said. "What a great way to celebrate a guy's life. He did so many great things for so many different people. It is neat his family can come here tonight and know that so many people remember Cleve and all the great things he did."
The first Cleve Wester Scholarship will be awarded this spring.
