VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –The Valdosta Historic Preservation Commission is honoring those committed to restoring and maintaining historic property.

The group is preparing to hand out its second annual Preservation Awards.

One of the properties that won last year is the Robert's Building in downtown Valdosta.

Improvements to nominated properties must have occurred within in the last three years.

"Preservation is important to our community because it conveys the historic character of our community and it gives Valdosta a sense of place," said the City of Valdosta Historic Preservation Planner Emily Foster.

Nominations will be accepted through April first. Click here for more details.
