ALBANY, GA (WALB) – If you're looking for a little weekend entertainment, how about hopping on a jet and flying to Atlanta? That's not always practical and certainly isn't always cheap, but this weekend, you can get a special low-cost deal. A round trip flight is just $132.

Katie McKee paid close to four hundred dollars for her flight from Albany to Atlanta Wednesday, so when she heard about the low-fare special she could book this weekend, she was quite surprised.  She said, "For real?"

For real. But it's a really limited offer. Airport Director Yvette Aehle said,"They randomly chose markets throughout the year that they give fare specials to and they're quick. Usually they'll tell you on a Tuesday and then you usually have to use it by a Friday."

This time, the days are a little different. But the deal is just as good, especially compared to what folks usually pay.  Aehle said, "Some people have always complained about how our fares are more expensive to go to Atlanta only and that's been true for the most part, but this time, they've got $132 for the weekend."

McKee says if Delta offered the deals more often, more folks would be interested in flying out of South Georgia.  She said, "Definitely. It's a lot more convenient to fly out of Albany when you live in the South." And a lot cheaper, making it much easier for folks wanting to leave on a jet plane.

The last time an airfare special like this took place in Albany was last summer.
