ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Moultrie police have three new officers on the street, and combined they have twelve feet.  meet Hugo, Jarra, and Scott, Moultrie's new K-9 officers.

The dogs stay with their officer counterparts 24 hours a day.

Wednesday they made drug hits on a truck, in a field, and tracked our photographer into the woods on scent alone.

The dogs are treated like officers and are expected to help improve public relations with kids while acting as a deterrent for drugs.

"If you're of the criminal mindset, you don't want to know the dog's after you," said Moultrie Police Sgt. Trey Raynor. "If we have the dogs out, a majority of the time the dog's going to find you. They know that , they know they can't hide from the dogs and that's the biggest thing.

Officers just returned from six weeks of training in Savannah. Within hours of returning, the dogs were already on the streets helping officers to make several drug arrests.
