ALBANY, GA (WALB) –An Albany man featured on WALB's Most Wanted Tuesday night is behind bars after a brief police chase and crash.

54 year old Sammy Lee Jordan was captured by Dougherty Sheriff's Deputies at the corner of South Harding and West Whitney Wednesday afternoon.

A Deputy spotted Jordan driving in South Albany and tried to pull him over, but Jordan took off, then crashed into a utility pole in Gary Jefferies yard.

Jefferies said "He tried to run from them, but he didn't get far. He was real woozy. What did they say. They told him to get down, but he wouldn't so they tackled him."

Jordan was checked out at a hospital then taken to jail.

He's charged with aggravated assault, battery and false imprisonment.

Police say he beat his ex-girlfriend last month because she wouldn't give him money, then held her against her will in her home on Eager Avenue.
