DOUGHERTY CO. (WALB) – Randy Avery was slightly injured when he was struck with a tire tool and a hammer Tuesday night near his Old Mill Road home.
Five people, some acquaintances of Avery, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault or being a party to that charge.
The 55-year-old Avery told authorities that the group accosted him and wanted money. They did not get any money or property from Avery, who did not require medical treatment.
Old Mill Road is near Hill Road, in Eastern Dougherty County.
