SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -  The Worth County baseball team opened the 2010 season by celebrating the 100th year of baseball at the Rams home of Pope Park.

Former Rams of all ages were on hand for the special pre-game festivities.

The alums saw perhaps one of the top pitching performances in the Pope Park's history.

Worth County senior Allen Fender, a Darton signee, tossed a no-hitter in the Rams 10-0 win over Turner County.

Fender struck out 13 of the 18 hitters he faced in the five inning game.

College baseball, Darton beats #3 Chipola 14-13.

Cavalier shortstop John Duran homered and first baseman Tag Lanier had three doubles.

In Americus, Georgia Southwestern shut out Albany State 7-0 in Americus.

GSW's Travis Barrett struck out five in six innings and former Darton Cavalier Trent Dooly drove in four runs on two hits.

Dooly is batting .552 through the first seven games this season.

In Statesboro, former Lee County star Thomas Nichols had three hits in Georgia Tech's 10-0 win over Georgia Southern.

College softball, Georgia Southwestern splits a doubleheader at Georgia College.

Lady Canes drop game one 6-3 but win game two 7-6.

GSW is now 7-9 overall and 1-5 in the Peach Belt Conference.
