VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –The Technical College System of Georgia is looking for an ambassador to spread the word about the importance of technical education.

Twelve Valdosta Technical College students were nominated for the GOAL award because of their leadership and excellence in academics. On Tuesday, Elisabeth Harrelson was chosen to advance to the regional competition.

"I'm just excited and would love for everybody to know that with a technical education they can gain a great experience and a great education and they can leave with the keys to success," said Harrelson.

Goal stands for Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership.

GOAL winners are selected at each of the state's 27 technical colleges. The state winner gets a new car and will travel around the state promoting technical education for an entire year.
