ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Late Friday night, Albany Police and State Troopers were looking for a driver who led officers on a high speed chase. That chase ended in a yard on West Whitney Avenue a little after 10:20 p.m.
Officers found marijuana in the car after the driver ran off. The chase started at a road block. Sgt. Shawn Urquhart with the Georgia State Patrol said, "We were setting up to have a road block at the intersection of Gordon and Westover, and a subject was heading west on Gordon and I guess saw us setting up and decided to turn around, and the trooper chased him."
Officers chased the car through several residential streets in southwest Albany. The driver lost control and ended up in the yard. A witness said he jumped out before the car stopped moving and started running.
