New release from the City of Albany
The Albany Transit System will host an informational and educational meeting on Thursday February 25, from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm and again from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
ATS will discuss the next steps in the development of the Albany Multimodal Transportation Center and its impact on the local community and surrounding properties.
The meeting will be held at the Isabella Complex located at 300 Cason St. in Albany.
In April 2006, the Albany City Commission adopted a resolution designating the existing government parking lot between Flint Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue at N. Washington St. as the preferred site for the new Albany Multimodal Transportation Center.
When completed, the new facility will serve as an integrated transportation center providing seamless transportation services that will accommodate buses, shuttles, taxis, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities. Its proximity to the existing rail line connection also provides the opportunity for a connection to the future passenger rail services.
In addition to providing safer and more coordinated transportation services, the Center will provide a venue for cultural and educational uses, community meeting space, and commercial development.
Citizens are invited to attend.
