Albany- A Dougherty County school teacher, charged with beating his own child, has been fired.

 Lamar Reese Elementary teacher David Johnson was arrested in February for beating his 12-year-old son with two belts.

Shortly, after his arrest, Johnson was suspended without pay for 60-days for previous insubordination not related to the arrest. So today, the board fired him.

He's still awaiting trial on the child abuse charges.
