Wreck injuries two; police search for driver who ran away

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police are searching for a driver who ran from the scene after an early morning wreck in Albany. Witnesses who heard the accident say it occurred at the corner of 11th Avenue and North Slappey Boulevard just after midnight Thursday.

Police say the driver of a red Chevrolet truck hit a silver Ford Taurus which crashed into a light post. EMS crews used Jaws of Life equipment to extract one driver out of the car. They took the 17-year-old and the 19-year-old who were in the car to the hospital.

Police are still searching for the driver of the truck who ran from the scene. Witnesses say that driver ran behind the Allstate building near the scene of the accident.

Police are still searching for the person and investigating how the accident occurred. Count on WALB News 10 for more information regarding this accident.
