Edison, GA (WALB) –  Remember we showed you that huge blue catfish caught in South Georgia a couple of weeks ago?

Well, it is now an official state record holder.

Ernest Timpson of Edison landed this huge blue catfish on Lake George below the dam near Ft. Gaines.

The fish is 49-inches long and weighs 80 pounds, 4 ounces.

Timpson says it took him 45 minutes to reel in the monster, and it wore him out.

D.N.R. Fisheries Chief John Biagi certified it as a new state record fish Wednesday afternoon.

They plan to mount it and display it in their Albany office.
