Albany - A city commissioner speaks out against Operation Iraqi Freedom and says the government is lying about the reasons for war. At Tuesday's meeting, Commissioner Arthur Williams asked commissioners to support a resolution to bring the troops home.

He says the money being spent on the war would be better spent on domestic programs such as fighting homelessness. Three commissioners, Henry Lee Mathis, Bob Langstaff, and Jon Howard, along with Mayor Tommy Coleman walked out while Williams spoke.

"I don't see why we bomb the land, assassinate, and we send our poorest people to fight this corporation war," said Arthur Williams.

After walking out of the meeting, Mayor Pro-tem Henry Mathis said he fully supports the President and the troops.

Howard said that he had more productive things to do than to listen to Williams' rant.
