Mitchell County - Mosquitoes are swarming Southwest Georgia. Last week's stormy weather left behind a lot of standing water.

An aerial view of Mitchell County shows large pond-sized puddles in fields. The standing water is expected to produce a frenzy of mosquitoes. Already, volunteers have to pause during tornado clean-up to swat them. Volunteer, Sam Stephens, says, "It's much better today, I haven't seen as many, but we've also had some bug spray from the Chamber of Commerce. It was nice of them to give it to us."

Volunteers believe the winds Monday have pushed mosquitoes away for the time being. Also, city and county employees sprayed pesticides over the weekend.
