ASHBURN - A retired U.S. Army Sergeant visiting South Georgia knows accidents can happen. Dana Bowman lost both of his legs nine years ago in a mid-air collision. He was a special forces paratrooper, skydiving for the U.S. Army's elite parachute team, the Golden Knights.
He says the weekend's tragedies remind him of losing a friend when the two collided. "It's hard for me, makes me gulp to think our service members are dying through tragedies, accidents," Bowman said. "I hope they come back safely."
Bowman still skydives. He landed at Turner County High School Monday afternoon. He's a motivational speaker and spokesman for a prosthetics company.
